The letter B probably originates from the proto-Sinaitic alphabet, used in Sinai over 3,500 years ago, itself derived from Egyptian hieroglyphs. By the way, did you know that the /b/ sound was then represented by a house?
Around 1500 BC, the second letter of the Phoenician alphabet, frequently called "beth" by analogy with the Hebrew alphabet, had a shape that served as the basis for successive alphabets inspired by it, such as the Greek alphabet.
